this picture is a few months old, i can’t find the molt but it’s around 1in DLS
I've made the same mistake once, that is not what you want to look for for sexing them, those dark things should be the slit sensilla, which are sensory organs. For sexing it you want to look for the spermathecae for the female, wich you could find a little below that area.
