I just found out my 2.5 inch a. Chalcodes is probably a male, he has that little circle tuft. He's my first tarantula, I'm wondering how long until he'll moult into his final moult and how long he has after that. Any experience on that front?
@Angelala Yes, that is called the epiandrous fusillae and it is indicative of them having a special set of silk producing glands specifically for their sperm web.
@Angelala I have a male Grammostola pulchripes who matured at about 5 years and has been mature for 2.5 years next month. Making sure that they always have fresh water available is key to males lasting longer. The slower growing the species, the longer lasting they are once mature.
