I was watering the bottom layer of the substrate with a long straw, since it has become bone dry and my L. parahybana was sitting on top of her water bowl all the time. Well... I gave her a roach, but she was still too hungry, lol. This is why I won't put my hands even near her enclosure.
I had to cut the straw so she couldn't have such a good grip on it, and bait her with a roach to get her to eventually drop it. She just merrily chewed on it before I managed to yoink it away...
I use the straws for this because they're soft enough to not damage her fangs, even if she manages to grab them despite my best efforts to lure her away. As an LP she doesn't need much moisture, but when the substrate is completely dry from the bottom, she just sits on her water bowl until I manage to moisten the lowest layers again.
