Larinioides cornutus is a distinctive-looking species of orbweaver. Unlike a lot of spiders, where you can't make a certain ID beyond the genus level without a microscope and a key, Larinioides species can usually be identified from photos. One feature to look for when distinguishing L. cornutus from other members of the genus is that it looks glossy and often has the least striking coloration.

In many true spiders (including this species) the palps of a penultimate male are swollen (sometimes even translucent) but undeveloped. I can't see whether these palps have sclerotized, but a mature male looks a lot different from a juvenile or female.
