@EmilzHernandez A few things. First, look at the sides of the book lungs that sort of form the border of the section above the epigastric furrow. See how they're parallel and pretty close? Often females will be a little wider at the bottom than the top. Then notice the little arch of slightly darker color. That shows denser setae, which also indicates male. Then there's a sort of light area in the center of the slit. That also typically indicates male for pokies. Females at that size usually have sort of a "lip" that is completely lacking here.
The caveat is that this isn't a 100% guarantee. Based on what I see though, the indications are very strong for male.
@Thistles Thank you so much for your explanation. I'll admit I'm disappointed that this poke is likely a male, but luckily males are still pretty attractive, plus it really shouldnt be hard to find a female soon, lol.
@EmilzHernandez Sure, good luck with him! People are always looking for males for breeding, so he won't go to waste! You might be able to find an adult female for sale and then try to time their molt cycles so he matures around when she molts. Good luck! They're beautiful spiders.
If you post a better pic it might change things. It's possible that there's a glare or trick of lighting, but based on that pic it looks like a boy.
