I just rehoused this beauty and gave her the option to be either arboreal or terrestrial. Her previous enclosure was terrestrial and made a thick tunnel mixed with substrate with only her toes sticking out/visible. This time she looks like wanting to be arborreal.
Those are from Jamie's tarantulas it looks like. Also, awesome enclosure! The acrylic looks great. Is that an AF? One of my favorite T's in my collection is an sAF OBT
That's one of Jamie's enclosures. I have one. It's pretty nice but I prefer using them for arboreal Ts rather than terrestrials. The side hole are to low IME to really fill up the substrate like I want to.
I got this enclosure from another friend, but I believe they are from Jamie's tarantulas. This is a 3 year old female, I say subadult about 4.5 inches. Yes, it is a terrestrial enclosure but I wanted to give her the option of either arboreal or terrestrial since OBTs are known to adapt to either. Her pervious enclosure was only terrestrial and she made a long along the bark into the ground. Only her front legs would stick out. This time, she is starting a vertical web system. Yes she webbed a lot on her last enclosure which was a terrestrial kk.
eating a dubia
vertical tunnel in the making, this was just overnight
What seems weird to me is that almost every OBT I have seen has made a small web hammock in the top corner of an enclosure and stayed there for a few weeks before even making a burrow or better hide. Some seem to get stressed too when they make a corner web and stay there. My OBT did exactly what yours did until I added a vertical piece of bark. Then it took right to that, so now I am never sure if they just do that or if the corner webbing means they are stressed... yours doesn't look stressed, just saying
@WeightedAbyss75 Mine started a corner web and slept there the first night. Then she dug out a burrow under the cork bark and I haven't seen her since (other than an occasional leg).
Oh, got it At least you have nice pics! Guess I'm lucky, since mine decided to dig in the corner of my tank and comes out of her hole every night Still strange, but beautiful OBT nevertheless.
