Took this picture in November. Opened up she would be larger than my hand. Also now that the Brachypelma revision is officially published, I changed the name to hamorii from smithi.
@Rachel C Depends on the following factors Gender, ambient temperature, frequency of feeding, number of prey items fed, and type of prey items fed. For some females it can take 5 years to reach sub-adult size, ~3.5" DLS
@Rachel C this species usually takes five or six years to reach adulthood. The one in the picture isn't mine, it's one owned by a local pet shop. Not for sale.
@Eek This tarantula isn't mine. It lives at a local pet shop. Not for sale, sadly. And in the future I do plan on handling VERY rarely. Handling is a bad idea.
