MM A. geniculata

His ultimate molt was today, unfortunately. I've raised this guy from a 3i sling, so I actually won't be sending him off for once. I'm hoping to have a long post-ultimate life from this one.
@AmberDawnDays Only males have ultimate molts, females continue to molt throughout life. And you know it was their ultimate molt when their pedipalps turn bulbous, like you can see in this picture. That's where they'll carry their sperm to give to a female. As for how long I've had it, I can't really say as I got him before I started keeping records. I'd say roughly 2.5 years though, give or take.

@EulersK 2.5 years from 3i? That's kind of sad. :( I thought they lived longer than that.

Also just curious because I've thought about keeping records myself. Do you keep records of feedings and molts? Something else or something more?

@AmberDawnDays Actually, no, now that I think about it, I must have had him closer to 3.5 years based on where I bought him. This is why keeping records is important! But females live a lot longer, as with all tarantulas. I suggest you start keeping records sooner rather than later. I only keep track of moltings and pairings, nothing else. I wish I would have started much earlier.
