It is 8"+ deep, about the size of a quarter. I dont think anyone was home. I tried tapping around the entrance with a stick, trickled some water down it, then stuck a long piece of grass down it to see how deep it was. It is dug in very claylike soil.
Not near where the hole was dug. This hole was right by my house, the closest pond is about 300 yards away and I dont think it even has any fish or crawdads in it. It dries up almost every year.
