They were incorrectly identified many years ago and this incorrect identification has been repeated many times online. The current species in the U.S. is captive bred and has been only identified as Apeuthes sp.
I have read that book cover to cover so I guess should have know that. The book was lost/misplaced in a recent move but I am connected with Orin so I will just reach out and see what he says...will update soon.
