Meh, I was obvious hoping it was a female. Now I am not sure what to do, I bought him as a T. Ockerti but was happy with him as a B. Vagans but now he turns out to be a male i am wondering should I bring him back to the store and get the T. Ockerti with a chance of that being a female or keep this little guy?
when I suspected this one wasn't a T. Ockerti I called them and told them about the mix up, and they told me I was welcome to come and trade the B. Vagans for a T, Ockerti and at that point I told them to please check and make sure first that those other 2 he had actually are T. Ockerti's and we agreed that I would call Friday to hear what they found out.
When I called him before I picked up this one he also thought he had a Brachypelma but then he didnt see labels of Brachypelma's anymore on the vivs so this one probably was just miss placed in a wrong viv, but like I said I'll call tomorrow to hear if the others are T. Ockerti's.
When I bought this one all 3 the Tarantula's where pretty skittish so I didnt get a good look at them, (obviously a mistake I wont make again) and chose this one because it was the biggest of the 3.
the thing why I am not sure if I should bring him back is because there is a chance the T. Ockerti's are males too ofcourse but then again I really did want a T. Ockerti and not a B. Vagans and to top that of I can get a sexed 1,5 inch (body) female B. Vagans for the half of what I payed for this one and I didn't take it because I didn't want a B. Vagans.
What did you pay for this male vagans? From the looks of it, he appears to be very close to maturing. I'd guess he will be a mature male after this next molt. IMO, replace him.
If you do get a male ockerti, when it matures, I would recommend a breeding loan. Send the male to someone with breeding experience for 50/50%. These are a much more popular/better looking species when compared to vagans. Also, if you do, do a breeding loan, you will receive anywhere from 40-100 ockerti, vs. 500-900 vagans. Up to you
Hmm a breeding loan sounds interesting though I do not know anybody here with Tarantula's guess I have to get into that. A 40-100 T Ockeri slings sounds a lot more manageable as too 500+ B. Vagans slings haha,
