Found this little guy at my mates house, not sure what it is, I am from South Africa so I am guessing a boon of some sorts or I may be wrong.
Mature males can be hard or impossible to correctly ID. This is indeed a mature male, and that's likely why you found it wandering. I believe all African species are called baboons (someone correct me if that's inaccurate). I couldn't even give you a guess at the species. I like the gold bands though.

Maybe someone else can help more than I can, but an expert would likely need to know what region of SA you live in to help you the most.

Unfortunately this is only a 2cm (20mm+-) sized spider still very small. Too small to tell if male or female till I get a molt.
I stay in Pietermaritzburg, which is in the Kwa-Zulu Natal region...

Hope this helps more .

I may be mistaken then, but the pedipalps seem to be that of a mature male, possessing the emboli. Sorry if I'm wrong about that.

No problem, I noticed the day after finding it, around my mates yard there were hundreds of spider burrows and they all looked to be of the same species

I actually saw that Brachionopus robustus the other night on the NET, but the pad on the legs make me think otherwise the pads on this guy are black... not sure would love to know what it is :)
