Found in a pool

Located in NW Louisiana, keeps showing up in swimming pools. Any help is appreciated.
looks like some kind of trapdoor spider also appears to be Mature Male which would explain why you found it in the swimming pool. he was look for the ladies and chicks dig swimming pools. As far as what species I would almost say its Gorgyrella, but their are only found in Africa so maybe some relation that that.

That is a male trapdoor Myrmekiaphila comstocki. You didn't even have to go to the
Art gallary to find one. Wich means there are females around pretty close.

It looks to be an adult male of Myrmekiaphila sp. [a genus with species spread across SE states]
No they are not dangerous, no they are nothing to worry about. Good to have around to eat pests.

There is an article here which you can download for free, with photos of both male and female of a new
species from Alabama [note to download it click the 'pdf' button]

or if thats too much effort, one of those images is here

If you can collect any for scientific study, i suggest contact Dr. Jason E. Bond (jbond@auburn.edu) and
offer him some specimens, particularly if as you say they keep showing up and if you can get them to him live (or maybe fresh dead is ok enough). The species east of the Mississippi is currently M.comstocki, but from their latest publication it looks like that one needs some study and revision, so specimen from your neighborhood or even your pool might be useful and interesting to those guys. Maybe again a new species?

Check out bug guide.net search Myrmekiaphila info then push
On the suggested tread. These little gems were found originally
Out toward highway 1 back in 1939.

Thanks to everyone for all the help!
I made a novice guess that I thought it was going to be a trapdoor spider based on it looking like a T, but naked! Nice to know that I am starting to get in the right track for identification!!!!!

This was not found on my property -- no pool here : ( My friend has a Saltwater (Saline) pool and my guess is that since there is no Chlorine/chemical smell, the spiders are coming out of the woods (on one side of her house) thinking it is a water source, not a giant swimming pool that is trying to drown them.

It has started to get around work that I am not only the "Snake Whisperer" but apparently the "Spider Whisperer" as well ; )
