This looks like a male from what I can see, but the pic isn't the best for sexing. You want to get a zoomed in, focused photo of the epigastric furrow - the vent that runs between the forward set of book lungs. Males will have a patch of epiandrous fusillae (male reproductive organs) just anterior to that furrow, which looks like a dark dot, triangle, or upside down "U" shape. I think I can make out the dark upside down "U" on this specimen.
