This was sold to us as a Theraphosidae sp. Dorado. We had a Dorado previously that died after a bad moult and this new guy looks nothing like the old one. It's probably 1.5" DLS, and has just got some more discernible colouration after its recent moult.
I honestly thought Brachypelma baumgarteni when I seen the pic in my feed but am just a hobbiest not an expert ๐Ÿ˜Š

I can see why you think that! They're very similar ๐Ÿ˜Š

We have a Theraphosidae sp. Mandarin too who moulted a couple of days ago and it looks very similar to the 'Dorado' so it's a mystery ๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh yer idk why I didn't think about sp Mandarin mine is only 1cm and just getting colour so it didn't click ๐Ÿ˜†
My Dorado is only 2cm but already showing very dark colours with a gold sheen no light legs so definitely not one of those . I can at least be confident with that.

@NMTs oh king of the tiny moult, you have Dorado too what do you think?

Ours has its adult colours now, it's pretty cute!

Our old Dorado looked exactly how you're describing too. You could see the gold on the carapace and the abdomen was more 'pill shaped' than round which is how this guy looks after few crickets ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yer looks like Mandarin, I would tell tss they messed up your order. I assume you went with them I have only seen sp Mandarin on their site ๐Ÿ˜†
That's where I went, yeah. I told them already on the day I arrived coz you could tell as soon as it left the vial that it wasn't a Dorado, but they told me it was definitely a Dorado - I'll send them an update when it grows into an obvious Mandarin ๐Ÿ˜‚
