My female wolf spider, Wolfsbane, has had an egg sac for over 4 weeks now. She has sealed herself off in her burrow but I am starting to worry if the eggs didn't make it. What should I do?
Mom knows best. I would leave her if she has double clutched then
I recently checked on her because I was getting worried. She is still very feisty, and I decided to check on her eggs and I am happy to say that the eggs have hatched, and the babies are looking healthy and thriving well. I gave her back the egg sac which she took right away and went back into her burrow. Do you or anyone know how long she will be in her burrow till she decides to come out with her babies?

To give you advice I need a bit more clarity please. Are you talking about the proper slings from the 1st sac stull being alive and well, or the slings/nymphs for the 2nd sac. Or are BOTH still in there?

No her first clutch I have in separate containers which only two of them survived. Her new clutch that she has right now has live babies that hatched and are still with the egg sac and the mother. I just want to know how long she will be in her burrow with the babies till she decides to emerge out of her burrow with the babies out of the egg sac.

Do you have a photo of what stage the babies are at? They would probably be better incubated as the removal and then putting it back may do more harm than good. She may "sense" the sac has been tampered with and destroy (eat) it or abandon it now.

She actually took the egg sac back and I have been checking on her and the egg sac and the babies are doing very well. The babies look to be newly hatched as they are yellow and white. I didn't open the sac very much just enough to see inside

Sounds like EWLs (Eggs with Legs). If so, they won't move about independently, just squirm about. Does that sound about right? Opening even a little messes with the humidity and protection of the sac itself. She may well "repair" it or she may stull decide her brood have been contaminated and destroy it.

Your call whether ypu leave her to it and see what happens, or take it off her again and finish off incubating. If you are not set up for an incubator then the latter isn't really an option.

Good luck either way 🤞

I have never incubated spider eggs before. is there a certain way to do that?
