1" Brachypelma Albiceps

This is a fresh molt from my brachypelma albiceps. The molt measures 1" dls. Possible female? I'll have to wait a whole year for another molt to confirm
I'm thinking these are male accessory organs with a gonopore in between, actually.

I had to go way back into the archives to find an example of similar size, but you can see here that spermathecae are more like 2 humps next to each other with no real space in between:

Ah, dang. I knew that could be a pretty big possibility. I’ll wait for next years molt to take another look XD this one doesn’t eat frequently or molt frequently

Yep, Brachypelma are ridiculous as slings. My B. klaasi went 17 months between molts, and it didn't even get any real color after it molted. Good thing we're patient, lol.

It's honestly surprising how long they can take to molt, and how long they go between feedings! I do regular enclosure checks / feedings / waterings, and I feed based on abdomen size. So I'll look at Butterscotch and see how big their abdomen is, decide not to feed, then all of a sudden it's months later and I realize "hey, you haven't eaten in a while!". This one molted in June of last year, ate shortly after, then didn't have a meal until July of this year (because abdomen was way too plump and technically still was when I fed them a snack). What makes it even more surprising is that they are a tiny sling - I thought we'd definitely have more molts in the time I've had them (arrived 7/19/2022)

Oh my gosh, 17 months between molts. Phew that's a long time. The only tarantulas that have done that to me have been my adults (specifically my T Albo female who is 5"). Haha, yes, patience is a virtue in the Tarantula hobby. When we have a stubborn/slowgrowing tarantula at least we can occupy ourselves with the fastgrowers in the meantime.
