If it was collected from the wild it was invasive and needed to be removed, there are no tarantulas native to my area. It's not a species we carry, and they said their child volunteered to bring home the semester's biology class pet without asking first.

Which species can be found in Central IN? I've dug and dug and I can't find anything on any Theraposidae here but I'd love to go on the hunt for pictures!
Sorry, I was just being nit-picky. There are no Theraphosids in Indiana.
Non-native would be the word for them.
Invasive would mean that they could survive the winter and reproduce, causing ecological problems. Which they could not do.
