It really is too blurry to tell anything for sure. When these get to be about 3" the females will have a distinctive white row of setae on the upper lip of the epigastric furrow, so keep an eye out for that.
Thanks. Had a feeling, but wanted to see if it was just my "untrained eye". Will see if we can snag either the exuviae or a better ventral photo when it molts.
Very hard to see but I'm thinking male based on how it looks at the moment. I could definitely be wrong, so confirm with a molt! At this size you should be able to look at a molt with a magnifier or microscope and be able to tell.
I kind of had that fear... My kid really wants it to be female because he wants it to live longer. I'm trying to gently prepare him for the possibility it's male, and have it be a nice surprise if we find out it's female.
We do in fact have a microscope we can use if it gives us a sufficiently un-chewed molt this time. If we can make it work, I'll be over on the other T sexing forum I hope in a few weeks
