That triangle-shaped dimple in the anterior lip of the epigastric furrow with the patch of dark, dense setae above it is present in males and not females. The dark patch are the epiandrous fusillae, which are specialized setae the males use for making sperm webs. Females will have a smooth anterior lip that bulges out slightly, with no dark patch of setae. It is usually pretty easy to see the epiandrous fusillae on G. pulchra.
