This is my Salmon birdeater. Got it as an instar sling in 2015. Wondering how long these things live.. and the sex is unknown. Although, living for 7 years already so I'd guess female.
I can't give you a for definite with life span as there are to many variables like temperature, food , ect all I can do is give you an average life span, male 3-5 years n females is 15-20+ years and as you have had yours 7 years i would say shes female. I hope that helps.
Lookin female
How do you like having her? I’ve been thinking about adding this species to my family in the very near future as they are considered “gentle giants.”

Awesome species! Very docile and active. She eats a ton, but now she stopped eating for months now. Only thing is she has a lot of hair that makes me itch alot so I don't like taking her out or having to clean her cage without gloves.

That’s so cool! I have a Curly Hair and her hairs make me super itchy and give me little hives so I don’t take her out either unless I have long sleeves and gloves. She prefers her solitude though anyways, so the lack of handling doesn’t bother her. I’ve read that the Salmon Birdeater will sometimes enjoy coming out to visit its handler and will come greet you when you are around, which is what really drew me to learning more and possibly getting this species.
