Chabi molted!!

My lovely B.albo, Chabi. Guys, this was my first ever molt!
@Trenor

TRENNNOR! I am so elated. Last week Chabi molted, and then two of my slings followed suit! <3 I have spent so much time examining her exo with my little currency magnfier. So. Amazing.

Okay, call me crazy (it's really okay), but I keep a record for each of my Ts. I record everything. This includes, but is not limited to, scientific name, common name, pet name, where I purchased them, dates of molts, gender (when able), dates of all feedings and of what feeder, and dates of rehousing. :rolleyes:

@Caseyface Haha, nice. Glad all your Ts are growing and happy. I went in the T room just a bit ago to see the solo M.balofuri had molted. The molt is too small to try to sex it yet but it put on some size.

Ahh, that makes sense. I was wondering if you were doing some odd fractional insect math for a sec there. :p

I track most of those things too. I use the tarantula app on my android phone for it. I use my phone for just about everything these days.

@Trenor

I have that app, too, but for some reason I've kept writing it down. Eh, I'm old school I guess. :astonished:

I don't know what sectional insect math may require, but I don't even like regular math. :dead:

Kudos on your M.balofuri!! My two slings were too small to determine sex. My B.vagans molted deep in its tunnels, so I can't examine it. And my G.pulchra is no longer brown! :embarrassed: I'm so happeh.

@Caseyface I can see writing somethings down. I do that for mead. There is just something about a brew/taste journal on the wine rack that is appealing to me.

My B.vagans did the same. It molted and stayed under ground most pretty much all the time till he was rehoused at 2ish inches. I don't have a G.pulchra yet but it's always good when they start showing colors. At one point I had 10 redish brown slings none of which was the same species. Now none of them even remotely look the same. :)

@Trenor

You craft your own mead? Uhm, that is amazing! I have a thing for typography, scripts, fonts...I like seeing words. In turn, I also like creating them. I tend to write things down, and it generally helps me remember whatever being written. I have countless scraps of paper with anecdotes or song lyrics or random memories that I'm worried about forgetting. I keep every card that's given to me, and lug them all around the country when I uproot. Don't even get me started on how anal I was during college years with my notes...

My B.vagans is a tunnel master, and stays hidden during the day. The only time I get to peek at it that little one is when I am up late, or wake up in the middle of the night. I go in and spy on them with my red flashlight. Mwahaha. I used to get annoyed when I woke up in the middle of the night, now I get excited. ...send help. Professional help.

@Caseyface Yeah, I grew up on a farm and my family has kept bees for longer than I have been alive. So, I make mead with some of the honey from our bees. I have a 250 bottle wine rack in my walk in closet. It's about 3/4 is full of bottles of wine/mead/brandy made mostly by me or people I know. It's fun and another hobby to collect.

I've played around with calligraphy and flourished hand writing for a while but it never stuck as a long term thing. Now days I type more than I hand write. I keep some of the hand written things I've got over the years but only if they have a special meaning for me.

They do love to tunnel. I usually don't go to bed till around 1AM so they are active around then. I keep a red LED flashlight on the wall of the pet room by the door. That way I can sneak into the room without turning on any lights. It's pretty cool to see them at work or strolling about their homes. One of the neat things I've watched is my P.cam carrying out the trash. She had a huge bolus in her fangs right after I moved her into the new enclosure. She walked all over the enclosure leaving web till she found the farthest spot from her home and dropped it there. All her bolus have been put there ever since. She is a tidy girl.

I try to stay away from professional help least they realize how much I need it. :D

@Trenor - That is an impressive amount of bottles. That is really neat that you make your own. I have several friends that enjoy making micro brews and such.

I rather enjoy calligraphy, though I'm not particularly good. I have several quills and nibs that I play around with. :)

Wow, can I hire your P.cam to tidy my apartment?? jk :D :D It is amazing how people can be so against spiders, for their behavior so fascinating to observe! Their loss, I suppose.
