zero way to tell from this picture, its far too out of focus. If hes trying to sell you a female, ask if it was molt confirmed and request a picture of that, other wise I wouldnt 100% take his word that it is indeed female. People will say just about anything to sell things
From what I've gathered, you can't tell at this size. I agree with smotzer, the seller may be yankin' your chain. Plus, even if you could, with this pic you couldn't, that glare is in exactly the wrong spot. You should get one regardless, they are fun to raise from slings as long as you give them plenty of ventilation and keep it's enclosure mainly dry with just a water dish or maybe two when it gets bigger.
