Pedipalps look the same on males and females until the male matures, then you can definitely tell the difference. This pic is of an immature specimen, so could be either sex.

Thanks ,I did see very small dark spots that I believe to be hooks, when I was researching people said that males have a very small pair of hooks on their pedipalps
That's not accurate. MATURE male have bulbs/emboli on the pedipalps and tibial hooks on leg I (longest front legs). Prior to maturing their pedipalps and legs look just the same as females. This one is not mature - search on Google for mature male avicularia and you'll see images that better illustrate what I'm talking about.
