Beetle identification photo#2

It's no doubt, a Pasimachus sp. Very incredible beetles. They are predatory and will take crickets. Maiming the prey will make them more eager.

They will take a variety of food items but their preferred foods are larvae, grubs and caterpillars -- they love waxworms! Providing a variety is probably the best idea for maintaining health. :) I generally offer one per beetle per feeding and about every other day is probably good. If prey isn't eaten by the next day, then I would remove it, wait a day or two, and offer something else. With those that I keep in pairs (as versus singly), I err on the side of over-feeding, lest they have any reason to attack one another. I have yet to see any moths or other beetles emerge so the Pasimachus must eat them. :p
