Arizona Blonde?

Arizona Blonde?

A. chalcodes or A. smithi? I can try to get better shots if it's a slight morphological difference. I just can't make heads or tails of anything I look at.
This is definitely Aphonopelma chalcodes. The chalcodes complex is currently being worked on by Dr. Brent Hendrixson. There are a lot of names out there being used for the different variations of chalcodes and schmidti is one that is used for the "Rust rump" variety. Either way... what you have is a chalcodes. Have fun with her! did you catch it?

Ooh. I like when things are being officially worked on. I was actually excited when Rhacodactylus was reclassified. =X I was pretty sure it was A.chalcodes, but I just haven't gotten those slight differences in Ts down yet. We purchased him about 2 weeks ago now. It was recommended by a friend to get an "Arizona Blonde", and he directed us to the guy he got his from. For a starter, I couldn't be happier. This was my boyfriends thing, but in our excitement we didn't ask many questions, like scientific name or sex haha. I had it sexed by another breeder, he said Male. I'll post pictures when it molts eventually to confirm. Thanks for the I.D. =)
