Hi all. I got a new addition today. I believe that she is an Aphonapelma genus. WHAT IS HER SPECIES? She was rescued from a bucket 6-7 years ago in Hemet/Sage area in Riverside County, California. TYIA PS, based on searching thru pics online, I am thinking she is A. icenoglei or A. atomicum.
Isn't it just a G. pulchra?
I do not believe so. I have quite a few pulchra in my collection and side-by-side she does not look like them. Her color is more of a almost black slate grey but not as dark in color, her carapace is more defined, her hairs appear shorter and pulchra are not native to Cali.

Didn't see the part about California.
If it has the raised part on the carapace, that could indicate Aphonopelma

DO NOT KEEP HER ON SAND!!!!!!!

pls, read through the beginner section and go through the conditions they require, you might not have her very long otherwise

IT IS NOT SAND! I do not claim to be an expert, but I am an experienced keeper.

alright, so it does hold water to some degree, should be fine then

not something i would have chosen or have experience with but you have assuaged my worries

What size is she? Both atomicum and icenoglei belong to the paloma group, which are dwarf Aphonopelmas that average sub 2.5" DLS as mature females.
