What kind of bug

My best guess is a Cicada. Looks like it is either ready to molt or already has an this is just the remains of it.

absolutely 100% a cicada, if that's just the exoskeleton then there's a nice flying bug out somewhere making noise. Otherwise, you have either a dead cicada on your hands, or an interesting molt to watch :3

looks to me like its still in there, but a closer topside pic would help at knowing...and if its really brittle like dried T molts or dry leaves then its empty...

I agree. It'd gone. Most cicadas will go into their adult stage during the wee hours of the night. Rarely will you find one ready to hatch in broad daylight, unless you are lucky. Feel free to keep it. I have a jar full of nymph exoskeletons for shits and giggles.
