Feeding wild-caught prey to your pets can be risky - you don't know where it's been. It might have been in contact with pesticides or might have been infected with parasites or entomopathogenic fungi, which could then be passed on to your mantis.
Yes, that is a caddisfly. I feed wild-caught prey to my mantids, but seeing as how my mantids themselves are wild-caught, I doubt if mine will be harmed.
