anyone know what this is right between her two body segments? i'm worried it looks like it might be some sort fungus or mold or possibly something caused by mites. her substrate has been damp lately thanks to a water dish made from some sort of porous rock material I noticed it had been leaking. so that's been switched for a water dish made of a plastic material. I changed that a few weeks ago and it still seems damp in the substrate. I know it's better to spot clean substrate but is this a case where I should replace it completely? scarlet_(fungus:mold).jpg

It's called the pedicel, and it is normal. You normally won't see it quite so clearly, but the abdomen looks like it's drooping downward so it is exposed.

Mites are no concern, and should not be able to thrive in the dry substrate of a B. hamorii enclosure. Mould won't grow on a living tarantula.
