Heading into the desert of the Okangan Valley tonight with uv lights. Temperatures are 32 Celsius right now or higher. They may be in estivation. There's also glowing termites out there. I've had a specimen of paruroctonus boreus before from about two minutes from my house. I'll let you guys know what happens.

1 am still searching... found a giant Beetle running around on the road. I got pictures. Also no rattlesnakes yet. There's 6 species of solfugid out here too. Rear fanged night snakes as well. We heard some coyotes freaking out over something they took down I think. So warm out its unreal.

3:26 am. Still on the road. Many splattered rattlesnakes and skunks. No sign of paruroctonus boreus.

paruroctonus boreus are burrowers that prefer sandy habitats. the best places to look are dunes or sandy slopes with packed sand they can dig into.

Unfortunately, we have bunnies, possums, skunks, and deer that are killed by vehicles in Iowa.
