Haven't posted in a while but I thought I would share an image of a scorpion I found while flipping over rocks and logs in the jungles around Tikal in Guatemala. I didn't have the best equipment for photography by chance, but this image should help id the specimen. The average length of these critters was about 1 1/4".

There was a whole colony of them under a rock and while photographing this specimen one crawled up my pantleg and stung me in the calf. It created a central blotchy red area about 1 1/2 wide and a sensitive area around it that felt strange when I walked and the pants moved over it. My whole calf tingled for days around the area, but the pain subsided rather quickly and it really wasn't too much of a bother.

It's good that you didn't have any serious reaction with the venom.

I'm no expert, but it looks like a Centruroides sp.

Hi,

I agree, looks like a juvenile Centruroides sp. A determination down to species level is impossible.
