Hi All,

Im a newbie and havent even bought my first T yet, but i have read alot about it.

I have recently bought a vivarium a started to set it up. Bought a ultratherm heat mats and attached it on the back side. Filled it with a "spider" substrate. Looked like hockey pucks that was mixed with water and it got some kind of soil of it that i filled the bottom with. The question is when its been standing like that for awhile the walls of the vivarium gets all moist of water and its even hard to see in the tank :( .

Just wondering if this is normal in the beginning? If i run without heat mat it dosent get moist on the walls, but i think i need it since otherwise its only about 70 fahrenheit in there.

Im going to buy a Smithi soon and want everything to be perfect:)

Would be happy if you have any ideas.

Thanks for your time,
/Stefan

You need to dry out that substrate before you get your B. smithi, they prefer it dry (with a shallow water dish of course).

And don't bother with the heat mat 70 degrees is plenty fine for a smithi.
