Hi all,

A friend wants to know what the pre-moult in a scorpion is like.

He says that his P.Imperator scorpion appears 'limp' and the tail is flat on the ground. He stated the legs are fine and support the scorpion though. It's very sluggish and keeps hiding.

He says it gave birth 4 months ago aswell.

Thanks for any help guys,

Well, if it gave birth it is a mature female. Scorpions do not moult once they have matured.

Limp tail sounds like the result of an injury and or the scorp is going to die. Most often, you will find dead scorpions with the tail flat out and the chela drawn in. Sluggishness is another indication that this is probably the case.

Cheers,
Dave
