I have searched and searched every imaginable website and forum for the biggest and best giant centipede I could get for the bucks. Unfortunately, only 2 of the true giants (adult length 8"+), S. sp. (Vietnam Giant) and S s. dehaani (SE Asian Forest Giant). I am definitely getting one of them. However, it's a really tough call because both are 6" adults and very reasonably priced. So how does one choose?! I'd love some advice. Of the two, is one known to grow larger than the other? Is one hardier? Is one typically more richly toned? Which of the two would you get in this scenario and why? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks tons in advance for your help!

They're essentially the same thing; subspinipes subspecies are pretty controversial, and most people aren't even sure if some of them are valid and what the differences between them are. If you could request pics of the individuals in question from the seller, then that could help your decision. If it were me, I would just go with the cheapest.
Good luck.

Thanks Stingray! Love that link! The Amazon and the Peru are breathtaking! And the Galapagos is a true monster and I love it. I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for all 3 of those guys. As for the looking for them on here, I don't really see any link to a classifieds section or current items for sale area on the site. I see some multiple posts that make me drool by advertising some dream pede for sale, but when I pounce and open the page, my hopes are instantly dashed when I see that the post is dated January 1, 2009 or something. Call me crazy but I pretty sure if there was a deal to be had, it probably pretty much done at the point of 3 years plus- LOL. Do all of the old ads just linger on the site indefinitely, even years after whatever they posting has been sold? If so, I hoping there is a link somewhere on the site to view current classifieds- items that are presently available for purchase and vendor ads promoting sales that are happening right now or maybe starting soon (instead of from months ago or more)? I've searched again and again for a link to a classifieds or current sales section of the site but so far to no avail. Are you able to access a classifieds or sale section with current ads? If so, could you please send me the link to it? Or tell me how to access it? It would be a huge help. Also, you mentioned some other sites that sometimes get S. Golapagoensis...can you recommend any sites offhand to keep an eye on for miraculously rare finds like that? I'd gladly pay $260 for that beautiful beast any day! Thanks again for all the insight. Take care.

I dont know why you cant find the classified section on this site but here it is...also you will soon find out watching the classifieds alot for centipedes, scorpions, and certain insects for sale they are not a very big market for them. Actually some sites are ghost towns but still worthy to check out every now and then for they do pop up sometimes.

I've seen that "blog" but it's likely it was thrown together by somebody with a passing interest in pedes that did some quick googling, so I don't put much confidence in it. That first picture, it could be the black form of gigantea, it's been talked about a few times here over the years. btw why not consider the large US native heros pedes? They are some of the best around imo, impressive looking.

Harwickei in the US? Bah! Tarantulaspiders hopes to get some in the next 2 months but I dont know about the reliability. I searched for a while in the US but people just dont like breeding them that often. Sorry but, I would pass on Harwickei.

As far as I know there has never been a hardwickei dealer import to the US yet. I don't think any dealers have been able to get them cheap enough so that they would make a profit. More common in EU and not extremely expensive there either from what I've heard.
