my loving fiance is once again encouraging my addiction. i'm torn on what to get.... i'm interested in more avicularia (miniatrix, versicolor, purpurea), but brachypelma (emelia, boehmi) and a couple stray species (Aphonopelma anax, Aphonopelma chalcodes) are still catching my interest. {D

i've also considered replacing my GBB, since i had the bad luck of getting a male. i'd get a male Theraphosa blondi (mine is 2.5"), but i'm not ready to breed my big girl.

any suggestions? we're still on a budget, so i need to stay around/under $50 before shipping.

current collection:
0.0.1 Acanthoscurria geniculata
0.1.0 Avicularia avicularia
1.1.1 Brachypelma smithi
0.0.1 Cyclosternum fasciatum
0.1.0 Eucratoscelus longiceps
0.0.2 Grammastola auerostriatum
0.1.0 Grammastola pulchra
0.1.0 Haplopelma lividum
1.1.0 Heteroscodra maculata
0.0.1 Lasiadora parahybana
1.1.0 Theraphosa blondi

previous species:
Grammastola rosea (didn't enjoy... i know, blasphemy)
Pterinochilus murinus (died)
Chromatopelma cyanopubescens (died)
Brachypelma albopilosum (just didn't enjoy the little 1/4" brat)

I love love love my GBB*, so I'd say consider another (small for $) if you have nothing against. Mine is one of my favorites and I am thinking about getting another next.
A.Versi* is another fave, and if you get it small it will not be so expensive.
Named my first ever Coco (after Chanel) because she kept changing outfits.
Really lovely spider and I also like avics in general... good "personality" if you will. Plus - same thing as with GBB's - they move nicely... very ballet-like.
But you have A. avic and have had GBB, so ya' know all this.

In the end, get what you like.

Hi. I got a minatrix sling about a month ago. its molted once and eats like a pig. I just give it good humidity and ventilation and it seems to be doing ok.

I am still throwing in my vote for a versi though ;)
