that being said, OP, I'm sorry to hear you live there that makes all the good "pet" tarantulas out of the question.

why are phlogius species "bad pet" tarantulas? They are quite lovely.

op, I would try and find a crassipes or Goliath sling and raise it. Raising it from that young will give you ample time to get used to its speed and attitude.

i had a juvie crassipes and it was a total pet hole. after a few months i got frustrated and decided that i will only keep beautiful pet holes and sold it. they do attain some impressive sizes and temperaments though.

Easy- in the OP's original post, it says "Since I'm new at this I would prefer a fairly docile tarantula"- none of that screams Phlogius to me Only asked for one specific quality, docility.
