Nephila clavipes caught a hummingbird

Now that's some impressive silk right there! These little ruby-throated hummingbirds are everywhere, and can fly from anywhere between 30 to 50 MPH. I'm a bit surprised I have only seen this once, since there are golden silk orb-weavers and hummingbirds everywhere here in south Alabama during the summer.

Spider silk is said to be 250 times stronger than a steel wire of the same thickness....But I believe I read this in a popular science magazine, so if this is true.....
