So I just received a huntsman not sure on species or genus and the other day I saw it drumming and am curious if there is any other way to confirm whether this is a male or not. and if it is a male what is the life expectancy?
If is a mature male, you can check the palps, they should be developed in the final segment of it.
Also if it's adult, you can check the epyginum underneath the abdomen.
I do not think that drumming is a way of differing both sexes, as I have seen females drumming as well; at least my specimens have done so.
Thanks I will have to check it out when I get home. What is the life expectancy for males and females? or will you have to know the species to give a specific answer
Sorry, I cannot help you with that answer since I have never kept a huntsman. The closest I have kept are Selenops.
Someone in here might help you out.
