while going through things one more time before taking off on vacation, I did my usual bi-weekly U. mordax hunt. I have 6 adult U. mordax in a large 30g breeder tank. I did have about 30 of them in there at one time, but they're now with other people.

The first rock I lifted and here's what I found:

Mom with scorplings making what appears to be their first big exodus away from mom. Talk about timing...

I shooed mom away and removed the molts from her back when i was done...

and setup all the 2nd instar scorplings into a spare kritter keeper

Final count in the Kritter Keeper is 20 scorplings
I accidently smashed one with my thumb while turning over the rock
and appeared to have had one that didn't survive their first molt
so her total birthcount appears to be 22
thats A LOT of scorplings for a scorpion thats only about 45mm long

sweet man!

those little scorps are suprising... i suspect extradimensional vortices are involved with the gestation process
my little ~2" V.spinigerus coughed up well over 30 babies, 31 of which made it to dispersal :)

once I got her out of the way, fairly simple. At least for the ones on the soil. Just ushered them onto a piece of paper... the ones on the rock, on the other hand, were a bit more difficult since they had much more grip. But managed to get them as well

I have one female of each of these species, and they both popped about a week ago.

Isaac, I have 6 momma mordax right now... I cant handle all the darn things. Most are hitting second instar as we speak. I probably have about 100-140 of the darn little guys. There goes my beer money, gotta feed the kids.
