I've seen this a couple times in the more feisty species. Sometimes the female is so unbelievably eager to mate that she actually scares the male off. I've only seen this on freshly molted females, specifically N. coloratovillosus and C. fimbriatus.

With sexual dimorphism that extreme, its understandable for males to get scared.

I find a neutral enclosure is better for pairing Lampropelma. In the females enclosure it can truly be a trap. I've experienced the female jiggling and as soon as the male got close he was done for in a blink. And I've experienced the male entering the females enclosure and she rushed him before he ever had a chance. She put on so much speed and power she almost ended up out of the other side of the enclosure with him in her fangs. Neutral enclosure is much safer for the male. Imo. Especially if the female has had her digs a long while.
