Today I started a thread regarding the 'bad molt' my B.smithi female had.
Well, after one response and a quick peek from my side I found out that my she has turned in to a mature male.

So, how long can I expect him to live and what can I do to make him live longer...?

That's comforting knowing we're headed for summer here in Spain now...
I have one room that's on the cooler side though but out there I won't be able to 'enjoy' him... This sucks big time! Why did she have to go sexchanging on me for... *sigh*

Guess I will have to talk to my husband when he comes home to see if we can find a breeder or such around here or in Sweden (since Im going there in april)...

Know if there are any ppl from EU here?

I have a mature Chaco who hooked out 3 years ago this past Feb 14th & he is still going strong. As Mushroom Spore said........I keep him at room temps & feed him according to his abdomen size.....don't want him too fat as he might go into a post-ultimate molt but at the same time don't want him too skinny. I think I found the formula with him as he eats quite readily.......one cricket every couple of weeks or so, sometimes a bit longer, depends on how he looks. I go mostly by my instincts as I've been keeping Ts off & on for over 25 years. He's such a good boy!!:D

Mature males B. smithi don't last long and lose fertility fast as well. I'd say less than a year. Mate him as fast as you can!

My B. vagans also had a sex change after 2 years, and he lasted only 6 more weeks after hooking out.

I'm glad to hear this. I have a MM Chaco who got his hooks in May last year. I was worried he might be gone in a few months, but right now he still looks really good and eats well. I don't heat his tank and I keep him on a fairly minimal diet, so maybe I will have him around for longer than I thought :D
