Ok so last night I was feeding my hissers and I noticed one of my females looked like it was giving birth, I waited and it started pushing out an egg case. I know hissers give live birth so this was pretty unusual, after it pushed out almost an inch of egg case it started sucking it back in!. Is this normal? do they push it out so a male can fertilize it? I have never seen this before...

An ootheca is created after fertilization has taken place. After forming an ootheca, the female roach distends the ootheca to allow it to harden and then retracts it back into her body for an incubation period. What you saw is common behavior.
