Heterometrus spinifer swollen on one side. Help!

Can anybody tell me what that swelling on her side by her tail could possibly be from? The people I got her from told me she could have had a bad molt or maybe she's pregnant but that doesn't sit well with me. Any ideas?

Oh, I've seen this. That is just a misformed plate, it does appear gravid, though. As far as I have seen, it does not affect the health of the scorpion.

I had this happen to my H. petersii female (was also gravid and didn't know till she had her brood) After she gave birth the 'swelling'went down and her plates went mostly back to normal. Never had any issues healthwise so you shouldn't have anything to worry about with yours Hope this eases your mind a bit ^_^
