Our local petco, has two display tanks for T's. one is labled 'Chilean Rose Hair' and the other is labeled 'True Zebra'. I've always assumed 'True Zebra' meant A. seemani as well. But why TRUE zebra? (i mean is it truly a zebra? LOL)
Anyway, they always have a G. rosea in each one, yet the prices are different. I wonder how many people buy a G. rosea for a higher price, thinking its a zebra?

Usually Petco carries rosies and avics, but I've seen these guys at some of the stores around here. One store even had a 3-4" B smithi for $99.

yeah, i believe petco has others on stock as well (available by order). i've heard of them being able to get H. lividums among others also. not just the standard rosies, zebras, and pinktoes. i don't know why you would special order a T from petco though... :?

So you don't have to pay shipping.

most of the petco managers I've talked to won't special order animals. If the buyer flakes out, the store is stuck with an animal that won't sell. Maybe if you are a frequent customer, and talk with the reptile specialist on a regular basis, you'd have a decent chance.

shipping is only $5. and usually petco overprices animals, and the animals aren't in as good of shape as the ones you will find here on AB. keeping T's on wood chips? :wall:

um, i always charge either $5 or $6 for shipping, so i guess this planet. priority mail for the last 2 years has been this amount :?

and i would like to see overnight for $5 {D it is $25-ish, but i have always used priority and never had problems. overnight is overrated unless there is extreme weather.

and no, sorry, $5-$6 is standard. you should order from me ;) ;)

This is a new one for me they never have anything but rosies and pink toes so this was a supprise for me. It didnt really look like more then a rosie and I could not get a good pic cause the poor thing was huddled up in the back corner. What do you think about the price? I am NOT going to buy it I know better just wondering.

I my self wouldn't buy it, that "Ture- Zebra Tarantula" is a Costa Rican Zebra, I bought one from a pet store not long ago. There really skittish witch I have handled them but after a few times of handling mine all it did was run all over the place an tryed to bite if it couldn't get away..
best T I would recommend for you to go with is a Mexican Fire Leg (Brachypelma Boehmei) witch aren't to skittish just hair kickers, or a A. bicoloratum witch are kinda hard to find, if you keep your eyes open you'll see them pop in here an there. that or a B. smithi, wonderful spiders!!

The local petstore around here (not a chain, couple owned reptile shop) has a fairly good selection of tarantulas now.

Went in today and found a male and female LP, some Rosies, a skeleton, red leg, king baboon, fire leg, and some chaco juvies. A T blondi was also for sale too. nThey also had a flat rock scorpion for sale too. Guess we're lucky :D
