Someone I know in Kentucky sent me this pic and wanted to know what they were dealing with. I think it looks like a Fishing Spider but I always thought they had darker spots. Any ideas?

It isn't in the dolomedes genus. Beyond that, I'm afraid that the Cheshire cat is no help. :(

Well thanks for at least telling me what it's not. At least you gave a shot at it. I find it hard to believe with all the experts here that nobody knows what this is...

I'm not sure why Dolomedes has been ruled out.
I'm no expert on fishing spiders, but I'd guess Dolomedes sp.

I enlarged the pic to try to get a look at the eye structure, but couldn't see it well enough to determine if this is a type of wolf spider or a fishing spider. I used to live in Kentucky myself and saw a lot of spiders at the river that resembled this one. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Looks like a nursery web spider to me. Eye orientation would help a lot.

I think you're on to something. It looks alot like a Pisaurina sp.

I believe he said it was about 3 inches leg to leg.

Hey odinn...this look familiar?

It's been living with me for a few weeks and they both look very similar, don't they?
