Have any of you ever had a breeding project or colony of these guys? We have tons of these in the valley and I think it would be cool to see CB colonies of these.

Any black field cricket info welcome

Thanks!

I don't think they would be any different in care than other crickets, my only suggestion would be to start a colony by getting some eggs laid from some wc specimens and using only those eggs to start a fresh colony so there will be less chance of parasites and such.

I had a small colony 2 males and 10 females in a 10 gal tank with a sand and soil mix with 1/2 pieces of pvc pipe for cover.Cover being important as in my area the crickets spend most of their time in stone walls or under other debris

Yeah, there basically the same as feeder crix BUT they are more carnivorous. Don't believe me? Put a grub or a pupa in the tank with them and see ehat happens. They will choose meat over veggies.
