If you are looking for a cheaper solution for glass aquariums, you could build your own. If you'd like, I could provide links on how to do this.

It's work, but it can be fun, and you have more control over what you are making.

Me i'm interested into building my own aquariums, so can you provide me the links please.

Thanx

I also make my own terrariums.
You can search in old posts (on the T forum I think) about directions on how to build one.
Genious_gr once started such a thread.

I make my own tanks and yes it is fun, made an octagonal one for my friend, but those things are a pain to heat with mats.

I usually make the lid outta plexiglass/ crystallglass basically.

I work in a DIY shop so its very easy for me to obtain the materials I need.

The best way to really hold the lid down tight is velcro.

so do you put a hinge or anything in it or a groove for it to fit in, or do you just put it on top like resting a book on an open box? also, what sort of glass cutter? where cani i get one? and where could i obtain plain plexiglass?

In all four corners you can drill holes other than the air holes, and mount guide pins if you like. I use a $2.99 hand-glasscutter. Plexiglass may be found at Lowes or HomeDepot.
