I personally, see absolutely no point in it, it just seems overboard to me.
Well, it did to me, too. Initially the species multiples were all just numbered. But, my daughters said if I was going to have spiders I had to give them 'proper' names. My argument was that they did have proper scientific binomial names... I lost the argument. The only species multiples I can't tell apart are 3 of the 4 A. versi (one is more distinctive than the others), which are actually my daughters anyway, and the H. livs which are all pet holes. Even sac mates seem to have physical and behavioral nuances that make them 'individuals'. I've always been able to differentiate between individual animals, it's people I have problems with... they all look alike! :)

I started out last October with three 2CM Chaco slings, named Copernicus, Einstein and Valdi, those were my first ever T’s. Unfortunately, Valdi never made it out of its molt.

Right now Copernicus and Einstein are in their 7th instar, just waiting it out……

Now I’m thinking of getting other sp. such as PZB or other grammostola sp. :alien:

Our G. rosea is called Agnes. :) She's a pet just like any other to us (albeit one you don't cuddle xD) so she has a name. I was always annoyed when people asked me if I named my rats (I've had 12). It was sort of "Well...yeah? Do you name your dog?"
I understand that a lot of people see their spiders as more of a specimen than a pet, and that's fine; just not my view :)

Only one of my Ts has a name - a female G. rosea that my son named "Andy". It fits quite well, actually.

I used too... i even had a Naruto theme going, That was when i only had under 20 T's, but even then it became too much.... having to name each and everyone was a nightmare..... specially when they changed their sex on you half way thru their life cycle....
So i came to the conclusion to just go with the Scientific name's and use a number system... i went about it this way cuz i reached my naming limit, it was getting out off hand, so just to simplify things and not having to remember over 100 names + common names + scientific names.... I stopped naming them, It made t keeping for me much more simple.... and enjoyable... rather than trying to think of good names for my T'S
Anyhow.... to each their own... i just happen to realize naming each and everyone of my t's is a bigger chore than actually keeping them....

Peace,
Armando

I always enjoy picking out the names for my spiders. They're pets, to me, as well as specimens. I just don't see the point in spending potentially 20+ years with a critter with no name. So each and every one of mine has a name. I'll list 'em in the order I got 'em.
B. smithi - Catastrophe
B. vagans - Calamity
G. rosea - Smiling Jack
G. rosea - Elsebeth
P. murinus - Electra
B. vagans - Aragog
B. vagans - Shelob
G. pulchripes - Audacia
A. chalcodes - Minka
P. spp. "Platyomma" - Pechka

Cool names, Vesp!
I came up with a name today for the last little unnamed sling. C. ritae #2 is now Silhouette.

Not all of mine have names, as I do not force names, so if it takes six to twelve months for a suiting name to come by, then so be it.
A good portion of mine have found theirs, though.

A. sp. New River - Wandere
A. avicularia - Misdreavus the Misfortunate
A. versicolor - Deumore
B. albopilosum - Opossum
B. boehmei - Lavadore, Solis
B. smithi - Tempus, Zeven, Patience, Aeon
B. vagans - Fangry
G. pulchra - Noone, Abigail
G. pulchripes - Oaken
G. rosea - Faire Tease, Creech
L. parahybana - Behr
N. chromatus - Antique
P. regalis - Evaline
P. irminia - Madilim Mirasol
