Found this lovely cicada on a sidewalk in Providence, RI:
I'll try to ID it, because that seems like the thing to do in good taste :p but figured I would ask if anyone recognizes it. It's large, but about average for a cicada, I think--maybe 1.5" body, maybe a little smaller.

Tibicen/Neotibicen canicularis? (Common name is the dog-day cicada, I think.) That one has more brown than what I'm used to, but maybe that's just the lighting?

Edit: I found a page showing several different color morphs of T. canicularis. Seems that they have quite the regional variation...

Ah I didn't see this post before commenting on your photo. Yeah it's Neotibicen, but there are several within that genus that look really similar. Half the time it's easier to ID them by call than anything else.
